Birkbeck College is running a poetry competition with a first prize of £100 open to everyone - including children.
What they want is a PANTOUM.
This is based on a Malay verse form. It consists of four line stanzas where the second and fourth line of each stanza is repeated as the first and third line of the next. In the strict form (and that's what Birbeck want) the first and third lines of the opening stanza reappear as the second and fourth lines of the last stanza.
Phew! Poets like making it tough...deadline is Friday May 14 and to submitt email your pantoum to poetrycomp@bbk.ac.uk
